Jayne and John at Tinakilly House
Jayne and John are meeting for the first time.
We met at Jayne’s best friend Ashling’s birthday party in December 2016. Ashling is married to John’s best friend Nick (our best man) and a few days later John got a text from Nick saying “Hey Johnny, do you want to go on a date with Ashling’s friend Jayne?”. We went on a date, had a great time and 3 years later here we are!
John proposes to Jayne.
As Jayne is a doctor, she usually ends up working weekends, so I decided to surprise her with a staycation at The Devlin for the Friday evening of the May bank holiday. The original plan was to take a boat to Dalkey island the following morning, but after a very nice meal and a couple of drinks I ended up proposing in the hotel room on bended knee and we celebrated with a bottle of champagne on the roof.
Why Jayne and John chose Tinakilly House.
We fell in love with Tinakilly House at the first viewing. We knew we wanted to get married in Wicklow, as we spend most weekends in the area. Tinakilly House had the perfect location, beautiful grounds and a wonderful bright and airy feel to the house, with plenty of old-world grandeur!
It was important to us that everything from the ceremony, drinks reception to dinner could happen in the one venue and flow properly and we instantly knew that Tinakilly House would address this perfectly.
We wanted our day to be elegant, relaxed and with a little bit of glamour.
We had always planned to move to Toronto shortly after our wedding, so wanted to be able to spend some quality time with our closest friends and families on the day.
As well as planning our move to Toronto, we had to reorganise our wedding 3 times due to the current circumstances. All of our suppliers and, in particular, the wedding team at Tinakilly House were fantastic and put so much effort into ensuring we had the day of our dreams.
